Buying A Pearl Necklace Jewellery Set
Wearing pearls on your wedding day is suppost to bring bliss and happiness to your marriage.
The most classic of wedding jewellery are pearls. So, how do you go about finding and buying the perfect pearl necklace jewellery.
There are four types of pearls:Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, SouthSea pearls, and freshwater pearls. Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea pearls grow in oceans. They are more valuable than freshwater pearls for their rarity and high luster.
The most popular pearl is the Akoya pearl. The Akoya pearl is the classic round pearl with a mirror like finish.
As with any other gemstones, the value of pearls is determined by their quality.
The quality of pearls are on a scale starting from A and finishing at AAA+. For pearls of the same size, an ‘A’ quality pearl necklace costs only a small fraction of AAA quality pearl necklace.
The quality and value of pearls are based upon six criteria: luster, nacre, surface, colour, shape, size and matching.
Nacre: The pearls nacre thickness is very impoprtant when buying pearls. A pearl oyster produces a coating to the pearl nucleus and it is this that is classed as the nacre. It is the key to how long pearls last. Pearls that last longer usually havce a nacre thickness over 0.4mm.
Luster and Surface: Luster is the amount of light reflected from the pearl's surface. A strand of pearls with high luster, mirror finish and clean surfaces is most desirable and valuable.
Colour: When buying pearls and choosing a colour it is really down to what would suit your clothing ans skin tones.
Size: The size of a pearl increases in value the bigger they get, so it is really down to your own budget as to what you can afford.
Shape: The valuable pearls are the round ones and these coincidentaly happen to be the most desired.
Matching: When buying a pearl necklace jewellery set you will need to look for jewellery sets that have the pearls matching as near as possible. It is difficult to find enough pearls to make a matching jewellery set as you can imagine and therefore a matching set would command a high price.
If you do not have enough in the budget it may dictate the kind of pearls you can buy. Do plenty of research, especially online to make sure you get the perfect pearl jewellery to suit your special occasion.
