Pedestal Sinks Traditional or Contemporary
Pedestal sinks now claim status as a classic. They were never not a choice, but have regained enormous popularity in recent times. The current generation is rediscovering them and recognizing their charm.
When they were first made, it was from cast iron overlaid with enamel, but eventually that changed and they have bee produced in vitreous china ever since.
A pedestal sink is not for everybody, but for those who enjoy Vintage charm they are a good match to a clawfoot tub in a Vintage bath. The Vintage style has recently gained in popularity.
If you think pedestal sinks are only for people who embrace the Vintage style you need not worry. Pedestal sinks are available in contemporary styles that will fit with other more 21st century styles of decor.
One major advantage is that these sinks can free up a lot of floor space. More visual space often makes a bath seem bigger.
One thing that may prove to be a problem, is the small amount of space on top that is usually found in a regular sink/vanity. You can partially overcome this drawback by browsing until you find one with a top large enough to house your grooming needs. Another option is mounting a shelf above the unit for this purpose.
